The Drake’s permanent art collection and rotating exhibits have been commissioned by local and international artists to create works that visually reflect, interpret + enhance the Devonshire experience, both indoors and out.

The art program bridges traditional metropolitan ‘white cube’ galleries and the wide open spaces with artisanal traditions that we crave from rural life. This results in a series of art installations that present contemporary concepts through various craft-based traditions. In addition to our permanent and rotating exhibits, the Drake Devonshire frequently hosts artist talks, performances and other cultural events; check the What's On section of our website for more information.

About-face

Dec. 9, 2016 - Aug. 31, 2017

Exhibitions at the Devonshire aim to bridge traditional themes in art making and the ways in which contemporary artists are envisioning them. The current show examines portraiture; in painting, photography, sculpture and textile, artists are shedding new light on the faces that surround them.
